Kuchipudi (Andhrapradesh)
- Originally this dance performed by group of actors ka. Kusselvas who use to dance on the themes of Vishnu going from one village to another village.
- With the advent of vaishnavism; this dance form was monopolised by male Bhrahmins. Who now started to dance on the themes of Bhagavatpuran and these people now called as BHAGAVATHALU's.
- The dance form gained prominence under the patronage of golconda and vijayanagara rulers.

- Each character introduces itself on stage with Daaru. And they seek blessings of the god.
- In a kuchipudi dance performance many a times dancers use to sing also.
- Basically it is group dance but solo performance are also important.
- The music accompanied in Kuchipudi is Carnatic.

- Manduk Shabdam: The solo dancer tells a story of frog.
- Tarangam: The dancer performs with her feet on the edges of the brass plate and balancing a pot of water on the head and set of DIYAS in Hand.
